ABOUT THE ARTIST
Cynthia S. West has been photographing the natural landscape for 25 years, focusing on water reflections, floral settings, colorful facades, and war memorials. Before she chooses to photograph a place, she looks into the history of the area to better understand its meaning. Her love of photography is matched only by her love for teaching literature and history.
Cynthia’s work includes images from New England, the Mid-Atlantic, the South, as well as Egypt and Europe. Cynthia has also exhibited in Old Saybrook, CT; Duxbury, MA; and Princeton, NJ.
She has studied at Les Recontres Internationales de la Photographie in Arles, France and holds degrees in the Humanities from the University of Tennessee and Columbia University. Cynthia recently completed a short film about war memorials and peace education entitled “ Remembrance and Reconciliation.”
Leredu is an ancestral name honoring Cynthia’ s mother’ s family from Normandy, France.
